He is survived by his brother, Bob (Margo); children, Kerry (Darla), James (Beverly), and Jerelyn (Dale); as well as his grandchildren, Kara (Ronny), Megan (AJ), Andrew (Shae-lynn), Cailem, Tyrell (Lacey), Kathleen, Emily, Sarah, Nicholas; and his great-grandchildren, Camron, Emmynd, Kraden, Elliotte, Charlie, Laney, Oliver, Loretta, Lexie, Logan, and Lochlan; and many nieces and nephews.

Vane was predeceased by his parents; his siblings, Sybil, Leland, Mavis, and Carmen; his grandson, Garnett; and his devoted wife of 63 years, Betty (Elizabeth).

Vane Leroy Orcutt, affectionately known as Grampa, was a man of great character and integrity. He grew up in southern Alberta and cherished the memories of his childhood. He had a special bond with his wife, Betty, and they shared a beautiful life together. Their love story began in 1959, and they were blessed with three children: Kerry, James, and Jerelyn. In 1962, Vane and Betty moved north when Vane started working in the oilpatch, where he dedicated himself to providing for his family.

Grampa had a passion for working in the yard, spending countless hours trimming trees and tending to the lawn. He was a woodworker and created pieces of furniture that will be cherished for generations to come. Grampa also had a love for watching Wheel of Fortune and following the stock market, always staying informed and engaged with the world around him. He was a bit of a tinkerer, coming up with creative solutions to overcome obstacles. Grampa was very friendly, and would greet everyone warmly and fall into an easy conversation, whether he knew the person well or had just met them.

A Celebration of Life for Vane Orcutt will be held on Friday, July 4th, 2025, at 1:00 pm at Hamre's Funeral Chapel, with interment to follow at the Woodlawn Cemetery. After the interment, there will be a tea at Hamre’s Funeral Chapel.
