

Obituary of Richard Edwin Bourdon
Richard Edwin Bourdon, beloved husband, father, stepfather, brother, and grandfather, passed away on March 9, 2025, in Kelowna, British Columbia, leaving behind a legacy of love, strength, and wisdom. Born on November 4, 1948, in Fort St John, BC, Rick was the cherished son of Florence Edith Bourdon (Alexander) and Rene Maurice Bourdon. He was a loving husband to Elaine, a devoted father to Sabrina, Lana, and Ritchie Bourdon, and a caring stepfather to Valerie Martin, Amy Schmalz (Martin), and Michael Martin. Rick is also survived by his siblings Don, Doug, Dan, and Marla Rudy (Bourdon), as well as 14 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren.
Rick's childhood in Fort St John was filled with joy and adventure. He developed a wide range of interests and hobbies, including woodwork, farming, and ranching. He spent many summers in Pink Mountain, creating cherished memories that would last a lifetime. As he grew older, Rick found solace and joy in boating and camping with family and friends on Charlie Lake, creating lasting bonds and unforgettable experiences.
Throughout his life, Rick was a driven and successful entrepreneur. Alongside his brother Doug, he owned and operated Tran-S-Port Honda for 26 years, leaving a lasting impact on the community. His skills as a carpenter were evident in the family homes and dealerships he built, leaving behind tangible symbols of his dedication and craftsmanship. Rick and Elaine made Kelowna their part-time residence for 8 years before making it their permanent home in 2022, embracing the beauty and tranquility of the area.
Despite his busy schedule, Rick always made time for those he loved. His giant bear hugs and hours-long conversations filled with philosophical, spiritual, and uplifting wisdom were a source of comfort and inspiration to all who knew him. His words of encouragement and guidance touched the lives of many, leaving a profound impact that will be cherished forever.
The loss of Rick leaves a void in the hearts of all who knew him. His unwavering love and guidance will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and the community he touched. The memories of his kindness, strength, and wisdom will continue to inspire and uplift those who were fortunate enough to have known him.
A Memorial Service for Rick will be held at the Charlie Lake Church on Thursday, April 24, 2025 at 2:00 pm. A time where family and friends will come together to celebrate his remarkable life and the impact he had on all who knew him. In the words of John 5:24, "He who hears My word and believes in Him who sent Me … has passed from death into life," Rick's spirit lives on in the hearts of those he touched, and his memory will be cherished for generations to come.
