Obituary of Robert James Andersen

It is with great sadness and loving remembrance that we announce the passing of Robert (Bob) James Andersen on March 12, 2025, at the age of 73.

Born on January 7, 1952, in Oliver, BC, Bob was the son of Ralph and Joyce Andersen. He spent his childhood in Ashcroft, BC, where he developed a lifelong love for the outdoors and hard work. In 1972, he married Kathy Anne, and together they raised four beautiful children, forming a family rooted in love and strength.

Bob was a man of many passions and skills. He worked on the ranch with horses and cattle, a job he truly loved and often dreamed of returning to. He also worked at Bethlehem Copper as a heavy-duty mechanic. He was a log truck driver—another job he cherished—and  a meticulous heavy equipment operator. Bob’s dedication to his work was unmatched, and he always took pride in every task he undertook.

A wonderful storyteller, Bob could captivate a room with his tales, often filled with humor and life lessons. His gift for weaving stories was one of the many ways he connected with others. He loved camping at Green Lake, and he enjoyed nothing more than the sound of country music playing in the background as he worked or relaxed. His bond with his border collie, Jasper, was special, and the two were inseparable.

Bob was also a devoted member of Alcoholics Anonymous since 1978. His commitment to sobriety was steadfast, and he sought out meetings wherever life took him. His strength, resilience, and willingness to share his journey inspired many and left a lasting impact on those around him.

Bob was a loving brother to Judy(Bruce), Ralph(Glenda), Jackie(Gordon), Billy(Brenda), and Kenny(Tracy), and will be deeply missed by his large extended family. He is survived by his children: Doreen (Trevor) with children Connor, Daric, and LT; Carolyn (Jeremy) with children Kelsey (Dayne), Taylor (Tyler), and Mathew(Jaida); Theresa (Timothy) with children Emily, TJ (Faith); and Mike (Tanya) with children Linden and Carter. He was affectionately called “Bumpa” by his grandchildren, and he was also blessed with five great-grandchildren. His legacy will continue through them.

Bob’s kindness, wisdom, and unwavering love for his family and friends will be remembered fondly by all who knew him. He touched many lives, and his presence will be sorely missed.

We wish to extend our appreciation to Dr. Aremu and the staff at the Fort St. John Hospital for the exceptional care he received. A celebration of Bob’s life will be held at the HUB in Ashcroft, BC on Sunday, May 18 at 1:00pm. In lieu of flowers, in Bob’s name, we ask that you take a loved one out for coffee…or a pepsi.

Forever in our hearts, Dad/Bumpa/Bob.
