Elizabeth (Betty) Patricia Baker
June 16, 1943 – March 10, 2025
With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Elizabeth (Betty) Patricia Baker on March 10, 2025, in Fort St. John, B.C. surrounded by the love of her family.
Betty was born on June 16, 1943, in Nipissing Township, Ontario to Bert and Esther Johnston. She cherished the bonds with her siblings. On August 20, 1960, she married the love of her life, Elwood Paul Baker, in Callander, Ontario and in 1961 moved to B.C. Together, they built a life filled with love, laughter, and resilience. Elwood predeceased her on February 18, 2018.
Betty is survived by her children Susie (Trevor), Doug (Don), Sandy (Peter), and John (Mila). Her grandchildren, Melissa (Jeremy), Tiffany (Dryden), Holly (Chris), Miranda (Buck), Layton (Rhiannon), Courtney (Matt), Alexi, Ella, and Kameron, as well as her great-grandchildren, Emmett, Cedar, Mason, Exzavia, Evanny and Hank. She was also blessed with a step-grandson, Landon. Betty was a beloved sister to Bert (Marg), Jack (Barb), June (Gary), Sheila (Bruce), Mary (Renald), and Elaine (Ron), brother-in-law Ken (Karen), sister-in-law Shirley, sister-in-law Bonnie (Abe) and brother-in-law Bob.
She was predeceased by her parents Bert and Esther Johnston, father-in-law and mother-in-law Bruce and Aileen Baker, little brother, Donnie, infant daughters, Tina Rose and Baby Elizabeth, and brother-in-laws John and Brandt.
Betty’s warmth, kindness, and unwavering strength touched everyone who knew her. She loved photography, gardening, and found joy in family gatherings, the laughter of her grandchildren, and the simple pleasures of life. Her legacy of love and devotion will live on in the hearts of those she leaves behind.
Our family sincerely thanks the doctors, nurses, and care aides at Fort St. John Hospital for their compassionate care and support during her time there, she often mentioned the warm tea that was made for her when she would come back from a test. Your kindness and dedication meant so much to her, and we are deeply grateful for the support given to our family during and after her passing.
A celebration of Betty’s life will be held March 28, 2025 at 2:00pm at the Taylor Community Hall.
