Obituary of Hugh Neilson Duncan
Hugh "Scotty" Duncan passed away peacefully at home in the early hours of January 20th, with his family around him. When palliative care became necessary beginning January 14th, it was provided by his family, in his familiar surroundings, with the support of and thanks to a doctor & nurse who are both long-time family friends.
In 1938 Scotty was born in Glasgow, Scotland and he grew up on the beautiful Isle of Arran. He was a proud Scot and even prouder Canadian after immigrating here on his own at 18 years of age. He called Taylor & Fort St. John home for 51 happy years.
We will miss beyond measure the awesome husband, father, father-in-law, grandfather and person he was. Scotty is survived by his loving wife Elizabeth, daughter Margaret & her husband Thor, sons Calum & Cameron and his wife Karlene, grandsons Russell & Austin and his fiancé Kendra, and his sisters Elizabeth Spearing & Doris Lapham. He was predeceased by his father Hugh, beloved mother Wilhelmina and youngest sister Thelma Helton.
At Scotty's insistence, there will be no service. Instead, if so inclined, remember him next time you hear a favourite tune or raise a glass.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in memory of Hugh to the Salvation Army - Fort St. John - Click Here to donate.
